Paxton was the very first contestant we saw this season when we made our first stop in the Mother City. From the second she started singing, she melted the hearts of thousands marking the beginning of a love story that culminated in victory for our youngest Idol ever. The biggest stars in business were also in attendance providing hair-raising performances to mark the occasion. It's no wonder, "#IdolsSA" has been trending for several days. Here's a look at what everyone's been raving about.Β

One of our fave moments of the night was the opening! We think our music director did a stellar job doing an authentically, African arrangement of Rihanna, Kanye and Paul McCartney's 'Four, Five Seconds'. Our band, dancers and of course the Top 10 also obliterated that stage, setting the mood for the rest of the night. We weren't the only one's beside ourselves either, with Paxton's whistle note during the performance, snatching wigs all over the nation!Β

That said, with so much at stake, some people just couldn't shake their anxiety about the looming result even though the announcement was still a good, two hours away!

- But if the spectacular opening wasn't enough to ease their worries the seven minute Gqom medley that followed must have surely got them in the spirit of the night!Β DJ Tira, Distruction Boys, Tipcee and NaakMusiQ hit the stage one by one delivering one club banger after another. The entire arena were screaming and dancing and judging by the tweets we peepd we're pretty sure a lot of people watching from home cranked the up the volume and joined in!

Paxton and Mthokozisi were then re-united with the Soweto Gospel Choir performing 'Stand Up For Love' and 'Storm is Over' respectively. "Bar-raising" is the best way to sum up what they did on stage. They've both put in so much work, perfecting their craft over the weeks and it showed! Our Top 2 also got to share the stage with the man who's responsible for fostering that growth, our In-House Mentor, Donald.Β  The track of choice was his infectious ballad, 'Landela' with Paxton even treating us to some really impressive vocals in isiZulu!Β

Next, it was time for our Idols to draw inspiration from the legends who've paved the way for them with Boom Shaka and TKZee both re-uniting for some truly, epic and nostalgic medleys on stage. Naturally, Lebo's presence was sorely missed but it was a beautiful trip back in time nonetheless.

- And you know what they say about time when fun and thrills abound. Before long, the moment of truth had arrived and Pro asked the production team to dim the lights one last time before revealing that Paxton was our new winner! She gave Mthokozisi a hug before launching into one, last performance of her infectious track, 'Demonstrate'. In an instant, the twitterverse errupted into a chorus of congratulatory messages as Mzansi finally got to be breathe a sigh of relief and celebrate their winner.Β

So, how did you react to Paxton's victory? Let us know below. You can also have a look our WINNER'S stunning music video for, 'Demonstrate' below and remember to buy the single here.Β
