Defeating the odds to become Mzansi’s next big star is no simple feat. As a matter of fact it may be one of the hardest things a budding musician might tackle in their career. However there’s one thing we’ve come across that may be even more difficult to achieve.

What’s that you ask?

Well, with thirteen seasons already in the bag, there is now a wealth of previous finalists and winners who’ve gone on to ascend to dizzying heights in their music careers. So if tasked with the challenge, would you be able to pick just ten of your ultimate former Idols songs for a playlist? Tough request, we know! But with Idols fever in full effect, we took the plunge regardless and picked some of the most memorable, funky and simply spectacular songs released by our favourite stars!

Take a look at the list below and share with us who would make your own Idols SA ultimate playlist

Karabo – Ngifuna Lo

When it comes to easy listening, no one tells a tale of love quite like Karabo does. The Idols Season 11 winner is undoubtedly a voice to be reckoned with in the world of RnB and there's no way we could leave "Ngifuna Lo" off the list.

Shekhinah – Please Mr

Effortless in her brilliance, Shekhinah has taken her velvet voice and used it to win over the hearts and minds of fans the world over. It’s no wonder her debut album 'Rose Gold' has been scooping up awards left right and center.

We Will Worship ft Khaya Mthethwa – This I Know (Ungizungezile)

Khaya Mthethwa has blossomed not only as a nation icon, but also as the go-to-guy for sanctified and sultry vocals. That’s especially why his riveting feature on We Will Worship’s “This I Know” remains a praise and worship staple across the country.

Mmatema – Ke Lerato

Blessed with one of the biggest voices Idols SA has ever seen, Mmatema hit the ground running after season 11. Not only has she been crisscrossing the country with back to back shows, she’s also gifted fans with stellar singles like “Ke Lerato”.

Musa – Mthande

Chart topping songs are as rare as hen's teeth but then again Musa isn’t your dime a dozen singer either. The season 9 winner etched his name into the records books with his break away single, “Mthande” that remains one of Mzansi’s quintessential love songs to date with the awards to match!

Vincent Bones – Let Me Love You

Did you know that during his time on Idols season 10, Vincent Bones received the most votes in almost every top 10 round? His electric vocals and mesmerizing aura is exactly why he is a must on any Idols playlist!

Paxton – Angifuni

Newest Idols SA winner Paxton is as beautiful as she is talented and her latest single “Angifuni” is already cruising the charts and further stamping the starlets mark on the game! We can’t wait to hear more of Paxton.

Kyle Deutsch / Shekhinah – Back To The Beach

It should come as no surpise that another former Idols contestant is responsible for 2015s song of the summer! Kyle Deutsch, along with Shekhinah, gave us a nostaligic gem that is still the perfect soundtrack to those easy-going afternoons with the people we love the most.

Lloyd Cele – Thando

Whether he is belting out a dancefloor hit or soothing our souls with a sweet ballad, Lloyd Cele has firmly affirmed in our hearts that he is one of South Africa’s most versatile, gifted and precious talents. That’s why there isn’t a single of his that isn’t replay worthy. We stan!

Season 14 of Idols South Africa premieres Sunday, 8 July at 17:30 on Mzansi Magic DStv Ch161. Get exclusive updates as all the action from the new season unfolds by following us on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.
