Can one really outrun their fate?

Following the success of its popular Sunday drama, Igazi, Mzansi Magic adds yet another revolutionary Xhosa drama to its stable – Isikizi. The latest series will premiere on Monday, 11 July 2016 at 20:00.

Isikizi, which means “disgrace” is a Xhosa drama that follows the tragic story of an honourable, but impulsive young man, who runs away from his hometown in a desperate attempt to escape a dreadful prophecy that was decreed upon his life.

Inspired by a Shakespearean story and set in rural Eastern Cape, the leading character’s journey begins when he returns from the mountains, only to overhear a dreadful prophesy that will change his destiny for the worst. Isikizi will tackle issues of true love and its consequences, fate versus free will, the power of fear and the importance of honouring one’s heritage.

“We are taking storytelling to another level with Isikizi. This is essentially a love story, but a demented love story that is going to get people talking about things that are seen as taboo in our society. We want the viewers to be conflicted about who the hero of this story is…,” says Reneilwe Sema, Head of Drama at M-Net for Local Entertainment Channels.

Produced by Paw Paw Films, Isikizi will feature a distinctive class of South African talent, from Tina Jaxa, Timmy Kwebulana, Zandile Msutwana, Phila Madlingozi, Chris Gxalaba, Bongo Mbutuma, Ayanda Dlamini, Andrea Dondolo, Vicky Kente to Khayakazi Kula.

Moral values will be explored on Mzansi Magic’s new drama, Isikizi, on DStv channel 161, Monday, 11 July 2016 at 20:00.
