They say that legends are born and not made but we’ve certainly watched a lot of Mzansi artists grow to iconic statuses. Mzansi Magic Music is paying homage to musicians who have endeared us and continue to. Entertainers who are proudly homegrown and dare to dream while daring to be themselves.
These are our living legends and we’ll be celebrating a handpicked few in the weeks to come.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo
It goes without saying that this Isicathamiya group is one of Mzansi’s finest. The acappella group has garnered fans and followers from across the world because of their unmatched style of performance that’s as compelling as it is gentle. We’re inspired by Ladysmith Black Mambazo, who continue to fly the flag of traditional music up.
Here are a few of Africa’s gems!
