This week the rug was pulled from under us. Just as we were getting to know, admire and perhaps even disapprove of her secret affair with a thug behind bars, the demure Princess was taken from us.

In a heartbeat, a time of (relative) celebration, came crushing down like tons of bricks. Death darted in, uninvited, and ran off with morwetsanee wakgosi, never looking back.

Now to the killer. Did Sharon D take the idea of killing for her kid to far here? Also, did she do it purely for Tselane?

Tselane’s mother, like an other, is vested in her daughter. But it’s much more personal, much deeper. Tselane’s relationship with Maru, the son of the wealthy Makhethas, is her meal ticket out of poverty. Marrying into money was the only thing that would catapult them into a life of money.

Princess Oarabile was an obstacle and, in a dog-eat-dog world, Sharon D embodied the same kind of greed and desire that Maru did; the kind that one can kill for. The difference however, between Maru and Sharon D, was that, while he was a neurotic liar he didn’t quite mean to strangle his father to death. It was, if you’ll remember, an accident.

Sharon D was a murderer. Having calculated the Princess’s ending to a T she wasn’t going to rest until she’d solved the ‘problem’. But was the only way really to poison her to death?
