Maru has done what no man should do. And so has entered uncharted territory. A seemingly entitled son to a King, he’s willing to beg, borrow, steal and kill to protect his inheritance. Even from his very family. He wants it all to himself.

But after years of being the black sheep in the family; a rogue and supposed embarrassment according to his father, Maru has always wanted to prove him wrong. The thing is, however, it doesn’t seem like his father was all that wrong about him.
Bonngoe Makhetha was a man of tradition and legacy. It was important for him that his son not only share in his vision but protect the family’s pristine image. An image that had been built from nothing through hard work and sacrifice.
But how honest were his values if he was willing to barter his only son off to a loveless marriage of convenience with Princess Oarabile, just to become a member of the royal family?
Perhaps royalty came with a virtue and this justified the means? What becomes even more ironic is how different Maru turned out next to adopted son Morakile and illegitimate secret daughter Nthatisi. Having raised adopted son Morakile to be an upstanding kind of guy and instilling Nthatisi with a sense of duty and modesty, where did he go wrong with Maru? Was Maru to blame for all of it?

From the outside looking in, it’s impossible not to fawn over the Makhethas for being close to perfect. The inside story, however, left a lot to desire. A father blinded by his own delusions of grandeur is he the one to blame for his son’s rotten sense of entitlement?

After taking matters into his own hands and throttling his sickly father to death Maru is now at the centre of an elaborate ploy to get away with this murder. With a dirty cop, a crafty girlfriend and a corrupt government head on his payroll anything seems possible.
