Amanda did what some people might find really bold. She proposed to Kabelo. Yep, you heard right, SHE proposed!

I mean, for her it was only natural, after all they were really into each other. This was in 2002 back in their home town, Kroonstad.

The couple’s first encounter was at a house party. Kabelo says Amanda took her breath away the first time he saw her and he actually declared that she was his future wife, not knowing that his words would come true.

A quick stop at the shops with friends made it possible for him to get closer to her and they started chatting regularly months after this. 

The proposal:

Six months into the relationship, Amanda visited him at his place. They were just chilling and then she thought since she really likes him, why not propose? And then she did! Amanda says it was the best decision ever!

Challenges:

The loss of family members from both sides put a lot of strain on the relationship, but it was Amanda’s mom’s death that really took a toll on the relationship. Amanda was three months  pregnant when this happened. She and her mother were very close and her passing away affected her.
