Ompie and Meikie's wish list was simple: for them to have their perfect wedding, their cake, food, decor, and Meikie's dress would have to be perfect.
First stop of the day was to Sydney, who would be their caterer as well as would be baking their cake. The menu consisted of samp, savoury rice, lamb stew, a cucumber salad, and a special surprise fromt he chef: a noodle salad with bacon, ham and cheese. Not everything on the menu is meant to be conventional and predictable, he said.
As for the cake, the couple gave Sydney free rein with the design. All they knew was it would have five tiers, and the flavours would be vanilla and red velvet. The delegation sat down to sample the menu and the cake, which would only be revealed on the wedding day, and they agreed that it was all perfect. The food and cake were checked off the list in one fell swoop.
The second stop was to the bridal boutique to pick up the bride's dress. Once again, Meikie gave her vendor free rein. She told Amanda Kelly to use her discretion and choose a dress that she thought would suit her. Amanda chose a dress for Meikie and had it imported from the UK. It was a silk and chifon ballgown with a sheer top, sweetheart neckline and lace trip on the bottom of the skirt. Amanda added more volume to to already voluminous skirt, and the bride was pleased. She also went beyond the call of duty and created the bride's bouquet. She didn't stop there! She gave Meikie a gift of cake knives to use on her wedding day. Meikie's expectations were met and surpassed. Dress, check!
The final stop of the day in checking off the wish-list was back home to the bride's home to view the decor. The couple's colours were royal blue and yellow, and the bride's company would be handling the decor themselves. That means Meikie rolled up her sleeves and put in the work to make sure what she had envisioned for the decor would be fulfilled. They explained the significance of their colours. The bride chose yellow because it symbolised the brightness of their love. The groom chose the accompanying royal blue because it was the colour of his late grandmother's church unifrom, so it had sentimental value to him. It would feel like his grandmother would somehow be present on the day. Decor, double check!
