If there is one person that could use a break, surely it’s Zamani. A breadwinner back at home for the city of gold, it’s crucial to the survival of his family that he make money to send back to his little sister who takes care of their ailing father. But hustling in the city comes with it’s own hassles.
There is bigger picture though. Zamani is in Johannesburg to study as way of breaking the generational shackels of poverty. But his vision is overshadowed by the bread and butter issues. Living and studying in the city is not cheap. Also, it won’t put food on the table back at home. Well, not now anyways.
Selling marijuana is how he is making a living. But this is an entirely different game with different rules. The streets are run by druglords and criminals and one has simply has to be street smart to make it. It’s dangerous and nothing is fair.
This is where Banzi’s lackey Diamond rules the roost.
Meanwhile, things between Simi and Zamani sour when she catches him selling in an alley. She vows never to speak to him again.
