"If stab my back, then i'll have to stab yours..."

The answer to this may be trickier than we thought. While Maru continues to get away with murder his mother-in-law, Sharon D is always one step ahead of him. And a crucial step it is this time.

After learning that Maru had recorded her confessing to poisoning Princess Oarabile and kept it stored in his phone, Sharon D’s defenses shot to sky. Paranoid that he was planning to sell her down the river she was going to pre-empt that with one stroke of the brush. Maru made the mistake of underestimating her, betraying her after all the times she’d covered his back. Sharon D was going to do to him what she did to the Princess. Poison him to death.

Sharon D puts Tselane under pressure to commit the crime on her behalf. After all they both stood to profit since Maru’s entire estate was now under Tselane’s name. Eventually, however, Maru put two and two together. He figured out that he was being poisoned and wanted some answers.

But in the same way the moon never cared for a barking dog, Sharon D never feared Maru. When he confronted both she and Tselane she laid it out simply: If you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours but if you stab my back, I’ll stab yours.

Are trust and loyalty even part of the equation in this vicious cycle of one bad deed after another? If Maru needed insurance against Sharon D surely she had every right to plot for his demise?
