Uuuh . . . Come again?!

A killer voice means nothing if no one can make out what you're saying. Case in point . . .

Our Judges have been particularly spicy this season and anyone who butchers their Audition is getting dragged for Africa! Add to this the fact that straight shooter, Phat Joe, was our Guest Judge in Durban and it was clear that there'd be no coddling.

Long story short, if you want that Golden Ticket it's imperative that you're well rehearsed because preparation is the best medicine for the nerves. The sheer number of Golden Tickets received is proof that most came prepared for battle. However, a few Durbanites found themselves at a loss for words (and making up their own) when the heat got turned up!

"I can sing, I know that!"

Taking on "Titanium" is a huge challenge on the vocal front but maybe Mbali should have paid close attention to the lyrics too. In a nutshell, she "shouted out" but we "couldn't hear a word" she said. See what we did there? Now, we might be laughing but Ms Bhodosa wasn't pleased about getting cut short and swiftly walked out before the Judges had even voted.

"Is a wrong law. Things are hard to follow but don't let anyone take him away!"

Recognise the song? Yeah . .  neither did we. Ayanda had already made a sour first impression with her sullen demeanor and things didn't change once it was time to dazzle. Now, perhaps the 28 year old actress was just nervous but that doesn't explain why she composed a completely new version of Mariah Carey's "Hero".

"So it's impossible to unperform it?"

Mr Msomi seemed keen on becoming South Africa's next Wooden Mic recipient. Getting tongue tied (and making things up) in the heat of the moment is at least creative.  Defaulting to doos, daas and buus during the National Anthem on the other hand? Not a proud moment.

"I came to Raspu?"

"I came to Kanku!" Linda belted as Somizi gagged (like the rest of us). When all else fails, just make up a new language and hope for the best. At least he didn't come to "kill the Judges" like some people . . *badum tsss*

Serial offenders aside, Durban certainly delivered becoming the city with the most people going through to Theatre week once again. Will Johannesburg finally unseat them next week? Make sure you're watching to find out.
