News

Unathi says life's "incredible" so we thought we'd decipher our 60-second chat with her to figure out her formula

Take one look at her "Unstagram" and you'd be forgiven if you mistook it for a vision board given the fabulous vacations and tons of stunning fashion on show. Toned body, dazzling prints imported from Ghana, flawless bikini shots on the coast of Mozambique? It's all there and it truly inspires but you know what they say about everything worth having. Let's dive a little deeper and see if we can crack Unathi's code and win at this life thing too.

No cake or pies thank you!

Unathi swiftly answered, "neither" when we asked her which of the two she preferred.  Given what a fitness buff she is and how much work it takes to fit into those body sculpting dresses, we're not surprised that she doesn't have a sweet tooth. She also revealed that she played for the National Hockey Team, further proof that Unathi has always been dedicated to maintaining prime, physical health.

The take away:  Eat lean, train mean and flaunt that summer body!

"I cry A LOT!"

This is something anyone familiar with Idols will know yet there might be more to Unathi's tears than meets the eye. Even as she said the words above, her face lit up and she laughed heartily. It's a sight we've seen often. Unathi's a woman who's not afraid of being emotional. She bears her soul and expresses herself freely. Now, we're certainly not pyschiatrists but constantly stifling ones emotions can't possibly be a healthy thing. Maybe we could all take a note from a her book?

The take away: Laugh more, love more, feel more! It's okay to be vulnerable sometimes.

Pay the haters no mind!

One of our favourite quotes from the interview was the words wisdom from Unathi's mom; "Even Jesus had haters so who are you in the bigger scheme of things?". Whenever someone goes against the grain and asserts their brilliance, envy and ridicule inevitably follow. Learning that "haterasion" comes with the territory is an essential part of living life, drama free.

The take away: Just keep slaying them!
