It was during a trip to the post office to apply for a job that Innocent met Vincent for the first time, or so she thought. Vincent knew her very well, as his own mother had been her nanny when she was a child. This was not something Innocent knew, who was just taken aback by the stranger at the post office speaking to her as if he'd known her for years, and promising to call her when she hadn't given him her phone number.
True enough, he did call her. No doubt he got her phone number from his mother. The two exchanged texts and phone calls, until one day Vincent declared serious intent by texting Innocent that he wanted to change her surname. Bold move, and Innocent called his bluff by agreeing. Turns out he wasn't joking at all. So began their romantic relationship.
Soon afterwards, the couple fell pregnant, a scandal at the time since Innocent is a pastor's daughter and expected to always live an exemplary life. So scared was she to tell her parents about the pregancy that she hid it untl she got admitted to hospital, where the truth came out.
Her parents, though disappointed, accepted the situation and accepted Innocent's baby, but insisted the couple get serious about their future. Being convicted that Innocent was the woman he wanted to marry, Vincent officially asked for her hand in marriage.
